User Consent & Opt-In Process

How Users Opt-In

WellPlated offers an optional SMS meal logging feature that allows users to log meals by texting photos to our service. Users must complete the following steps to enable this feature:

  1. Navigate to Settings: Users access the SMS Meal Logging section in their profile settings within the WellPlated mobile app.
  2. Enter Phone Number: Users voluntarily enter their mobile phone number in E.164 format (e.g., +1 555-123-4567).
  3. Verify Ownership: Users receive a 6-digit verification code via SMS and must enter it in the app to confirm they own the phone number.
  4. Explicit Consent: Users must acknowledge and agree to the following consent statement before enabling the feature:
  5. Enable Feature: Only after completing verification and providing consent can users toggle on “Enable SMS Meal Logging.”

Message Content

Users who opt-in will receive the following types of messages:

  • Confirmation of meal photos received
  • Brief summaries of logged meals
  • Responses to meal-related questions sent via SMS

WellPlated does not send marketing messages, promotional content, or unsolicited communications via SMS. All messages are directly related to the meal logging feature the user has enabled.

How to Opt-Out

Users can stop receiving SMS messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to any message from WellPlated
  • Disabling “SMS Meal Logging” in their app settings
  • Removing their phone number from their profile

Upon opting out, users will receive a single confirmation message acknowledging their request, and no further messages will be sent.
